Denver falls to Arizona in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Matt McCready gave the Arizona Sundogs a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Denver Cutthroats when he scored 1:10 into the extra period.
Brandon Coccimiglio was all over the ice for Arizona, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Coccimiglio scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 3:51 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A roughing penalty on Troy Schwab had put the Sundogs on the power play. Travis Ouellette assisted on the tally. Coccimiglio's next tally on the power play made the score 3-1 Arizona with 9:50 left in the second period. Arizona had gotten the advantage when Denver's Jean-Philipp Chabot was sent off for tripping. Ouellette picked up the assist.
The 44 shots that the Sundogs put on net surpassed Arizona's average of 24.5 shots per game this season.
Arizona also got points from McCready, who also registered one goal and one assist. Kevin Baker also scored for Arizona. More assists for Arizona came via Bryan Cameron, Ian Schultz, Paul McIlveen, and Michael Trebish, who contributed one a piece.
The Cutthroats forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and two majors for 26 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 18.0 minutes per game Denver had been spending in the box. The Cutthroats relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Daniel Barczuk, Garrett Bembridge and TJ Fox took 18 of the team's 34 shots.
Chris Rawlings recorded 31 saves for the Sundogs. Arizona totaled 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors and went 2-for-8 on the power play. Kent Patterson made 40 saves for Denver on 44 shots. The Cutthroats registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
