Huge game by Hellyer boosts Quad City over Missouri, 7-1

Mike Hellyer had two goals and one assist to lead the Quad City Mallards to a 7-1 victory over the Missouri Mavericks.Hellyer found the back of the net on the power play 18:18 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 19:34 into the third to make the score 7-1 Quad City.
Missouri fell victim to a deadly Quad City power play, which ripped the Mavericks for four goals.
The Mallards put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Missouri to score on any of its three power plays. Quad City found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Mallards have scored at the pace of 3.2 goals per game during the current campaign. By firing 34 shots on goal, Quad City exceeded the 24.7 shots it averages per game this year.
Quad City also got points from Mike Stinziani, who also had two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Quad City included Darren McMillan, who had one and Mickey Lang, who had two. In addition, Quad City received assists from Anthony Perdicaro, who had two and Gabriel Boutin-Gagnon, Obi Aduba, Matt Duffy, and Shayne Toporowski, who contributed one a piece.
The Mavericks' offense operated below they season average. Missouri puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. The Mavericks put 34 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.8 they average per game. Missouri found itself short handed often, totaling 18 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays.
