Rapid City boosted by Battochio's play in net, beats Allen 3-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Danny Battochio helped Rapid City defeat the Allen Americans, 3-1.
Rapid City stifled Allen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.
Rapid City also got points from Winston Day Chief, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Rapid City also got a goal from Rusty Masters as well. Other players who recorded assists for Rapid City were Justin Faryna and Michael Couch, who each chipped in one.
The Americans put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Rapid City to score on any of its three power plays. Allen's offense operated below it season average. The Americans average 3.2 goals per game. By firing 32 shots on goal, Allen exceeded the 22.5 shots it averages per game this year.
The Americans were led by Anthony Maiani, who scored the team's only goal. Maiani scored 5:17 into the second period to make the score 1-1.
Battochio rejected 31 shots on goal for Rapid City. Rapid City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Aaron Dell recorded 23 saves for Allen. The Americans incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
