Fort Worth holds on for 4-3 win against Allen
The Fort Worth Brahmas survived a determined comeback attempt by the Allen Americans on the way to a 4-3 win.
Chad Woollard had a great game for the Brahmas, netting two goals. Woollard scored at 15:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fort Worth and again while 5:04 into the second to make the score 2-0 Fort Worth.
Fort Worth put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Americans to score on any of their five power plays. With 28 shots on target during the contest, the Brahmas exceeded the 18.9 shots they average per game this year.
Fort Worth also got points from John Snowden, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Fort Worth received assists from Austin Mayer and Calin Wild, who contributed one a piece.
Allen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.
The Americans were led by Jason Deitsch, who racked up one goal and two assists. Deitsch scored 12:05 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Fort Worth. Jamie Schaafsma assisted on the tally. Allen also got a goal from Trevor Ludwig as well. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Brett Skinner and Alex Penner, who each chipped in one.
Kristofer Westblom rejected 24 shots on goal for Fort Worth. The Brahmas incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Aaron Dell recorded 24 saves for Allen. The Americans incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
