Arizona vanquishes Quad City in shootout, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Chad Nehring netted the deciding goal for the Arizona Sundogs in the shootout as Sundogs prevailed over the Quad City Mallards, 3-2 (1-0 SO).The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams.
Arizona was led by Nehring, who grabbed one goal. Nehring scored 6:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Arizona. Jason Morgan assisted on the tally.
The Sundogs managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Arizona finished below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Sundogs relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Derek LeBlanc, Nehring and Morgan took 18 of the team's 32 shots.
Arizona was led by Nehring, who racked up one goal. Kevin Petovello also scored for Arizona. Other players who recorded assists for Arizona were Mike Glaicar and Ron Meyers, who each chipped in one.
Quad City's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Arizona power plays. The Mallards put 33 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.8 they average per game.
Quad City was helped by Patrik Levesque, who registered one goal. Levesque scored on the power play 13:11 into the third period to make the score 2-2. The Mallards earned a power play opportunity when Chad Langlais was put in the box for hooking. Quad City also got a goal from Mickey Lang as well. In addition, Quad City received assists from Matt Duffy and Mike Hellyer, who contributed one a piece.
The Sundogs' Adam Russo stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. John Murray rejected 29 shots on goal for Quad City. The Mallards incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
