Quad City squeaks by Rapid City, 4-2

The game between the Quad City Mallards and Rapid City was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Quad City emerged with a 4-2 win.
No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Mickey Lang at 11:26 of the third period.
The Mallards got the win with help from a great game by Lang, who had two goals and one assist.
Quad City excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The defense for the Mallards played an important role offensively, racking up 11 shots on goal.
Bob Preece also scored for Quad City. More assists for Quad City came via Matt Boyd, who had three and Darren McMillan, Anthony Perdicaro, and Mike Hellyer, who each chipped in one.
The 26 shots that Rapid City put on net surpassed Rapid City's average of 20.5 shots per game this season. Rapid City's defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 12 shots between them.
Rapid City was helped by Scott Brannon, who tallied one goal and one assist. Brannon scored 5:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Rapid City. Kyle Peto assisted on the tally. Rapid City also got points from Peto, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Rapid City were Riley Weselowski and Jordan Baker, who contributed one a piece.
John Murray recorded 24 saves for Quad City. The Mallards totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Tim Boron made 23 saves for Rapid City on 26 shots. Rapid City ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major.
