Allen vanquishes Quad City in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Brett Skinner scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Allen Americans picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (2-1 SO) win over the Quad City Mallards.The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. Quad City got a shootout goal from Obi Aduba. Allen also got a shootout goal from Scotty Howes.
The Americans saw a three-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Allen made the score 3-0 on a power play goal by Skinner at 4:14 in the third period. The Mallards evened things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Mickey Lang at 19:44 in the third period.
Skinner was all over the ice for the Americans, as he grabbed two goals in the win.
Allen got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. The Americans put 49 shots on net during the contest, more than the 31.0 they average per game.
Allen was led by Skinner, who finished with two goals. Skinner scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:03 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Allen. Quad City was helped by Jeremy Boyer, who had one goal. Boyer scored short handed 13:05 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Allen. The Mallards found themselves down a man on Derek Matheson's holding. Lang picked up the assist. Quad City additionally got points from Stinziani, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Lang, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points.
