Gilbert's hat trick boosts Bloomington over Quad City, 6-3

The Quad City Mallards could not stop the Bloomington Blaze's David Gilbert, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-3 win.Gilbert's first goal came 19:14 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:41 into the second and at 17:43 into the third.
Bloomington's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Quad City power plays. The Blaze's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Bloomington finished with 21 penalty minutes.
Bloomington also got points from Jon Booras, who also registered one goal and one assist, Matthew Larke, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Jesse Dudas, who also had one goal and two assists. In addition, Bloomington received assists from Tyler Gron, who had two and Aaron Dawson, Jared Walker, and Kyle Bochek, who each chipped in one.
Quad City was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time.
The Mallards were helped by Derek Matheson, who tallied one goal. Matheson scored short handed 3:59 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Bloomington. Quad City was on a disadvantage when Mitch McColm went off the ice for interference. Obi Aduba assisted on the tally. Quad City additionally got points from Mickey Lang, who also registered one goal and one assist. Quad City also got a goal from Mike Stinziani as well. More assists for Quad City came via Matt Duffy, who had two and Jason Dixon and Mike Hellyer, who contributed one a piece.
Pier-Olivier Pelletier rejected 25 shots on goal for the Blaze. Bloomington registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Joe Palmer recorded 23 saves for the Mallards.
