Lukin's big game bests Tulsa in 4-1 Allen win
Jarret Lukin had one goal and two assists to lead the Allen Americans to a 4-1 victory over the Tulsa Oilers.Lukin beat Dan Bakala with a shot 8:54 into the second period short handed to make the score 2-1 Allen. Allen was on a disadvantage when Brett Skinner went off the ice for holding. Lukin dished an assist on Jamie Schaafsma's goal that made the score 1-1 at 5:08 into the second period. He added another helper on Ryley Grantham's goal that made the score 3-1 Allen at 17:03 into the second period.
The Americans were often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and two majors for 20 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 18.0 minutes per game Allen had been spending in the box. The Americans stifled Tulsa's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.
In addition, Allen received assists from Darryl Bootland, who had one.
The Oilers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and two majors for 36 minutes in penalty time.
