Matthew started playing hockey at the local ice rink in Parma, Ohio under the leadership of the late Coach Bob Chippy.  Before his last season as a mite, he changed organizations to join the AAA Cleveland Barons as a member of the 94 Team Cleveland Hockey Team.  He is one of the 2 original members from this team that have stayed with the Barons throughout the years.  His highlight in hockey so far was playing in two National Championship Tournaments and making it to two National Development Camps including last July in Rochester. 

As a senior at Padua Franciscan High School, Matthew is maintaining a 4.3 Grade Point Average.  He is in the Honors Program at the school.  He is the second son of George and Kathy.  His brother George plays for the Air Force Academy.
