Missouri beats Tulsa 5-3 after comeback scare

The Tulsa Oilers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Missouri Mavericks held on for a 5-3 victory.

Missouri made the score 5-2 on a goal by Evan Vossen at 9:59 in the third period, and Tulsa got as close as 5-3 when Drew Fisher scored 12:39 into the third period.

The Mavericks were led by Mike Ramsay, who registered one goal and one assist. Ramsay scored 4:58 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Missouri. Sebastien Thinel assisted on the tally.

Missouri excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Mavericks' offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25.2 shots per game they average.

Missouri also got points from Thinel, who also had one goal and one assist and Colt King, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Missouri also got a goal from Matt Stephenson as well. In addition, Missouri received assists from Eric Castonguay, Trevor Kell, Tyler Currier, Andrew Courtney, Henrik Odegaard, and Colten Hayes, who each chipped in one.

The Oilers relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Adam Pleskach, Nathan Lutz and Ryan Menei took 15 of the team's 28 shots.

Other players who recorded assists for Tulsa were Ben Gordon, who had two and Macaulay Macaulay and Michel Beausoleil, who contributed one a piece.

Shane Owen rejected 25 shots on goal for Missouri. The Mavericks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Shane Madolora recorded 23 saves for Tulsa. The Oilers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
