Huge game by Clewlow boosts Fayetteville over Augusta, 7-2

The Fayetteville FireAntz's John Clewlow had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 7-2 win over the Augusta RiverHawks.Clewlow's tallies came at 16:41 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Fayetteville and short handed 9:34 into the second to make the score 3-1 Fayetteville.
Fayetteville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The FireAntz surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Fayetteville averages 3.5 goals per contest. The FireAntz relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Josh McQuade, Brett Liscomb and Brandon Richardson took 13 of the team's 25 shots.
Fayetteville also got points from Liscomb, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Richardson, who also registered one goal and one assist, Bobby Reed, who also had one goal and one assist, and Andrew Smale, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Fayetteville came via Mike Kavanagh, who had two and Corey Toy and Anthony Bergin, who contributed one a piece.
Augusta's offense was clicking better than usual and put 23 shots on goal during the game, better than the 18.6 shots per game it averages. The RiverHawks' penalty kill unit could not stop Fayetteville's power play, which converted on three of three opportunities. Augusta's defensemen bolstered the RiverHawks' offensive attack, as they bombarded Marco Emond with 12 shots.
Augusta was helped by Jay Pietrasiak, who tallied one goal. Pietrasiak scored 12:00 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Fayetteville. David Lun provided the assist. Drew Baker also scored for Augusta. In addition, Augusta received assists from Casey Mignone, who had one and Jonathan Juliano, who had two.
Emond recorded 21 saves for the FireAntz. Fayetteville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The RiverHawks' Brandon Foote stopped 18 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Augusta incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
