Who We Are Our company is in the business of creating unique products for our customers in the sport and recreation industry. We apply our real-world experience and intimate knowledge of that industry with strong IT expertise. Much of what we create lives within the Internet and, as a consequence, we depend heavily on a solid IT infrastructure. This is where you come in.
Who We're Looking For Ideally, you are energetic and enthusiastic, with a natural aptitude for Linux, networking, virtualization, and security. You exhibits a solid base of knowledge, can quickly learn new skills, and can complete complex tasks. You understands the critical nature of the position and that it requires diligence and in some situations, working until the job is done, even after hours. You recognize that some instructions are detailed and must be followed precisely, while others are vague and will require some research to chart the correct course of action. Your natural instincts for security should guide you throughout. You understand that documentation, while time consuming, is sometimes required and should be given the time and effort need to complete it. You work well with others and facilitate their needs in a respectful and conscientious manner.
Responsibilities The position has two primary responsibilities. The first is to acquire proficiency in maintaining/troubleshooting our existing critical and ancillary systems, most of which are heavily virtualized and Linux-based. The role will require sharing on-call availability, and a commitment to solving critical issues as they arise. Over time, as familiarity grows, there will be more freedom to make improvements where needed; however, as 100% uptime is our goal, caution and thoughtfulness takes precedent. Additionally, the role requires working closely with our software developers to support and provide resources for their development environment. You will gain exposure to nearly every aspect of running a medium-sized (~80 people) company's IT department.
As the role demands a fair amount of independence and autonomy, good organizational skills as well as an affinity for recording and documenting processes are highly desirable.
A Sampling of Software We Use - Linux - Apache/PHP/Tomcat - Oracle/mySQL - VMware/KVM - Varnish - AWS - GlusterFS - LDAP - Memcached - Asterisk - OpenVPN - Iptables - Subversion The position is available immediately. |
