Jon Schwind is a multi-dimensional player for Marist College playing both the infield and outfield. In his 2011 season, Schwind batted .274 in 190 at-bats. Over 49 games played and started, Schwind collected 52 hits, 15 for extra bases (11 doubles, one triple, and five home runs), and 47 runs scored. Schwind was 4-5 in stolen base attempts.
In his sophomore year, Schwind made CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District and MAAC All-American teams and was MAAC Player of the Week in April. Schwind started all 55 of Marist’s games spending time in center field, third base, right field, shortstop and second base. He hit .346 with four home runs, 42 RBIs, 39 runs scored and 10 stolen bases. Schwind led the team in hits (75) and doubles (20).
In his first year as a Red Fox, Schwind played in all 59 games posting a .254 batting average with four home runs and 37 RBIs. He was third on the team in runs scored with 41. Schwind was named MAAC Rookie of the Week in March.
During his high school career at Hilton High School, Schwind played four years of baseball, hockey, and two years of soccer. He was named All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year and First Team All-State, as he helped lead the team to the state Final Four in 2008. Schwind was also selected to First Team All-County his sophomore, junior, and senior years.
