Blue was a 10th-round pick (297th overall) of the Detroit Tigers in the 2001 Major League Baseball amateur entry draft. The 27-year-old was selected out of Lamar High School at the age of 18 and is in his 10th season of professional baseball.
Blue batted .297 with 50 RBI and 40 stolen bases in 124 games for Class A Lakeland in 2005. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound veteran spent six full seasons and part of a seventh in Detroit's minor league system, reaching as high as Triple-A Toledo in 2007. A native of Houston, Texas, Blue played in the Lone Star State for the Edinburg Roadrunners of United League Baseball last season and batted .285 with a .414 on-base percentage, 41 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 73 games.
