Rookie right-hander Randy Johnson was signed to make his professional debut with the RailCats in July 2010.
Johnson, 24, pitched for four seasons at Division III powerhouse UW-Whitewater, winding down his college career in 2008. Both a starter and reliever for the Warhawks, Johnson was 6-5 as a collegian, compiling more than 30 innings on the mound in each of his final two seasons. Johnson went 3-2 with a 6.87 ERA as a senior, striking out 16.
Since graduating from college, Johnson has pitched in a semi-professional league in Wisconsin. Johnson was first discovered by the RailCats at the team’s annual Open Tryout in early May 2010.
