Barton enters his first season in the Atlantic League and sixth of professional baseball. He appeared in 25 games with Bridgeport and amassed a.267 average with 12 runs, 24 hits and seven seven RBI. The outfielder made one appearance with the Atlanta Braves in 2009 following a stint with Triple-A Gwinnett, where in 114 games, he batted .266 with 28 extra-base hits, 46 RBI, 47 runs scored and 17 stolen bases. The 28-year-old began his professional career in 2005 as a member of Single-A Lake County in the Cleveland system. After two more successful seasons in the minors, the California native was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2007 Rule V Draft and made his major league debut in 2008, batting .268 with nine doubles, two home runs, 13 RBI and 12 runs scored, in 82 appearances. The Cleveland Indians signed Barton as a non-drafted free agent.
