In his first season as a Ragin’ Cajun, Lance Marvel was a solid contributor on a team that claimed a share of the 2010 Sun Belt Conference regular season title. After beginning the season as a reserve, Marvel worked his way into a starting spot in left field and into key spots in the lineup.
Prior to attending the UL Lafayette, Marvel played two years of junior college ball at Texarkana Community College. At Texarkana, Marvel split his time between catching and playing outfield. As a sophomore in 2009 Marvel hit .347 with seven home runs and 41 RBI and helped lead the team to a Region XIV East Conference title. He hit .370 with six home runs as a freshman in 2008.
Marvel played high school baseball at Arkansas High School in Texarkana. He earned four varsity letters in baseball and also lettered in football. Marvel earned baseball all-conference honors in 2005 and 2006 and earned all-state honors in 2007. That year Marvel was named the team MVP.
