Began season inactive as bullpen catcher after spending 2009 season with Schaumberg Flyers (Northern League), where he hit .176 in 23 games, going 9-for-51 with 5 RBI. Played college ball at TCU and USC.
Activated after Ben Johnson was signed by Detroit Tigers.
