McCoy returns to the Newport Gulls for the second consecutive season, coming off the heels of a 2013 campaign in which he was one of the most consistent pitchers on the team. In 10 games (three starts), McCoy went 2-1 with a 2.18 ERA and 29 strikeouts. McCoy also made two appearances (one start) in the postseason, helping the Gulls reach the 2013 NECBL Championship Series.
In his sophomore season with Wake Forest, McCoy went 0-1 with a 48.60 ERA, striking out one batter in 1.2 innings. In his freshman season (2013), McCoy finished the season with a 4.97 ERA in 11 appearances, while striking out 18 batters.
Before heading to Wake Forest, McCoy was drafted in the 26th Round by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2012 MLB Draft. The southpaw had a prolific career at Barnegat High School (Barnegat, NJ), finishing with a career ERA under 2.00 and a batting average of .405, which ranked him among the top 500 high school seniors in the country in 2012.
