John "J.C." Casey is in his third season at Missouri State, where he has been a versatile two-way player. As of May 23, Casey is hitting .167 (4-for-24) and has an 0-2 record on the mound with a 10.38 ERA in 8.2 innings. As a sophomore Casey made eight appearances, four of them starts, and posted a 5.81 era with 20 strikeouts and 12 walks. Casey has significant summer league experience, playing in the New York Collegiate League in 2008 and with the Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plains League in 2009. Last summer he tossed a league-high 80.2 innings of work. The Chicago Cubs drafted Casey in the 35th round of the 2007 MLB Draft. He is a member of the Kickapoo High School Hall of Fame. His father, Michael, is a music professor at Missouri State.
