The Toros acquired slugger Victor Ferrante from the Schaumburg Flyers this offseason in exchange for Pitcher Reid Price. The power hitting outfielder was an extra-base hit machine in 2009, leading the Frontier League with 9 triples, pacing the Flyers with 18 home runs and setting a new career high with 21 doubles. The 2009 season was the first in Independent baseball for Ferrante after spending the previous three years in the Colorado Rockies system where he hit 33 combined home runs. Victor was selected three times in the Major League Amateur Draft, by the Houston Astros twice in the 38th Round in 2003 and the 50th Round in 2004. He ultimately signed with the Rockies after they selected him in the 15th Round in 2006 out of Solano Community College in Fairfield, California.
