Wally Backman Jr. was originally selected by the Texas Rangers in the 30th Round of the 2004 Amateur Draft and spent four seasons in the Rangers system, reaching as high as Single-A with Clinton of the Midwest League.  Backman adds versitility to the lineup, having logged time at all four infiend positions and also in the outfield during his professional career.  Has the name implies, he’s the son of former Major League Infielder Wally Backman Sr., who won World Series Championship with the New York Mets in 1986 and is currently managing in the Mets organization for the Brooklyn Cyclones of the New York-Penn League.
