Signed on January 6, Austin makes his professional debut following four years at Flagler College, an Independent Collegiate Athletic Association school in Florida. Went 19-18 in 57 career appearances (47 starts) for the Saints with a 3.70 ERA, fanning 176 while walking just 99 in 308-plus innings. Earned team MVP honours last year as well as a spot on the All-ICAA Second Team. Is the school’s all-time leader in starts. Signed with Winnipeg after working out in Maryland for Goldeyes manager Rick Forney. Was named in December to Flagler’s 2000-2009 All-Decade Team.
