Uriak Marquez is a native of Ensenada, Mexico and begins his second season in El Paso in 2012. Marquez played in Venezuela in 2001 and the Dominican Republic in 2002 before moving to the Low-A Chicago Cubs affiliate, the Boise Hawks of the Northwest League in 2003. Marquez split time in 2004 with the High-A Daytona Cubs of the Florida State League, the Boise Hawks, and the Class-A Lansing Lugnuts of the Midwest League. After a five year break, Marquez returned to baseball in 2010 with the Shreveport-Bossier Captains who he also split time with in 2011, along with the Diablos and hit .300/.353/.437 with 56 runs, 103 hits, 18 doubles, one triple, nine home runs and 49 RBIs in 90 games, including .347/.388/.411 with 15 runs, 33 hits, six doubles, and 14 RBIs in 24 games with El Paso. He has a career fielding percentage of .952 playing the three positions in the infield.
