Brown took the American Association by storm in 2009, signing with Lincoln in late June after completing his collegiate career at Division II Pittsburg State in Kansas. Tim went 1-1 over his first six pro appearances, all in relief, but thrived after moving into the starting rotation. He posted a 4-0 record and a 2.14 ERA as a starter, walking just five batters in 46.1 innings. Brown played a pivotal role in Lincoln’s run to the second-half championship, earning the Saltdogs’ 2009 Rookie of the Year award, and was named by Baseball America as the fifth-best prospect in independent baseball.
