Britton brings big-league experience to Lincoln, having pitched for both the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees. The Orioles selected him out of high school in the eighth round of the 2001 draft, and despite missing all of 2003 due to injury, he worked his way up to the majors and appeared in 52 games for Baltimore in 2006. The Orioles traded Britton to New York after the ’06 season, and he spent the next two years bouncing between AAA and the major leagues. The Yankees non-tendered Chris after the ’08 campaign, allowing him to sign with the San Diego Padres organization. He pitched briefly at both the AA and AAA levels for San Diego in 2009, and then finished the year with York in the Atlantic League.
