Wager is a versatile infielder with strong defensive abilities at both corner infield positions. Wager was a regular in the middle of the Wildcats lineup in Big East conference play in 2010 and will be well prepared for the pitching he’ll face this summer in the NECBL.
After a slow start to his sophomore season, Wager made the proper adjustments and ended the season with a .277 batting average. Wager also hit one home run, drove in 21 runs and stole 10 bases. In 2009, Wager appeared in 39 of Villanova’s 50 games while making 26 starts. He hit .216 with 13 RBI. Wager played for the Waterloo (Iowa) Bucks of the Northwoods League last summer. In limited playing time, Wager went 5-for-33 (.152) at the plate with five runs batted in.
Wager was a three-year letter winner at Oakton High School in Vienna, Va. As a senior, Wager was named first team All-Concorde District, first team All-Northern Region and second team All-State.
