Chantz Mack is an athletic outfielder from the University of Miami. He’ll be joined in North Adams this summer by fellow Hurricanes freshman Frankie Ratcliff.
Mack began his career at Miami this spring after being recruited as a two-sport athlete as a football and baseball player. After Mack chose baseball, the Hurricanes knew they had a very athletic, strong and talented outfielder with star potential. Mack saw limited playing time at Miami in the spring but the SteepleCats expect him to make a significant impact in the lineup and in the outfield this summer.
Mack played his senior year of high school baseball at Archbishop Coleman Carroll High School in Miami. He hit .385 with two home runs, 15 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 2009 and was named team MVP. As a football player, Mack was named the team’s offensive MVP and was selected to play in the Miami-Dade County North vs. South All-Star Game.
