Garrett Gray finished strong in 2009 as he helped the Wright State University Raiders win the Horizon League Championship and qualify for the NCAA Tournament. That strong finish carried over to 2010 as Gray put together a sensational season at the plate and behind the plate. At one point in the season Gray put together a 28-game hitting streak.
Gray was twice named the Horizon League’s Batter of the Week in 2010. He earned the award for the week ending May 2 after going 11-for-24 with four home runs and 10 RBI that week. That week he posted a slugging percentage of 1.083. He also earned the award for the week ending April 18. That week, Gray went 9-for-18 with three home runs, four RBI and nine runs scored.
As a freshman in 2009 Gray appeared in 49 games. He hit .331 with three home runs and 19 RBI. In the Horizon League Baseball Championship tournament, Gray hit .389 (7-for-18) with four RBI, two doubles and a home run. For his efforts he was named to the 2009 Horizon League All-Tournament team.
