Tom Coulombe will play for the SteepleCats in 2010 after a breakout season at the University of Rhode Island. Coulombe led his team and was second in the Atlantic 10 with a .418 batting average. He also hit three home runs and drove in 41 runs.
As a sophomore at URI in 2009, Coulombe hit .295 with three home runs and 28 RBI. He led the Rams with 20 stolen bases. In the summer after his sophomore season, Coulombe played for the Sag Harbor Whalers of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League and hit .220 in 19 games. As a freshman, Coulombe hit .264 with 14 RBI and five stolen bases.
Coulombe played high school baseball at Lincoln High School in Rhode Island. In addition to baseball, Coulombe also played football and basketball. He captained the baseball team his junior and senior seasons and the basketball team his senior season.
