Duron played for the Spokane Indians of the Northwest League in 2009, collecting 48 hits and 17 RBI in 53 games. He also had 12 doubles and one home run while batting .279. He played college baseball at Pepperdine University, where in 2009 he played in 42 games collecting 46 hits. He batted .286 with two home runs and 17 RBI. He was also voted the West Cost Conference Defensive Player of the Year with a .983 fielding percentage. In 2008, he batted .290 with 58 hits in 58 games and 12 doubles. He had six home runs and 38 RBI and also scored 33 runs for the Waves.
