Edwards returns to the Wild Things for a third season in 2011. Last season, he appeared in 27 games, eight of those as the starting pitcher. He went 5-2 with one save and a 3.79 ERA. In 2009, he posted a 4-5 record with three saves and a 5.40 ERA in 43 appearances. He struck out 70 batters and walked 23 in 60 innings pitched.

The Wild Things acquired Wheeling, W. Va., native RHP Justin Edwards from Worcester of the Can Am League as the player-to-be-named-later in the May 2008 trade of RHP Ryan Mitchell. He made his professional debut in 2008 with Worcester where he split the season between third base and pitching. He started the season as the Tornadoes starting third baseman before being converted to pitching full time on June 24th. With the Tornadoes he went 1-0 with a 4.37 ERA in 16 appearances. He allowed 38 hits, while striking out 25 in 35 innings pitched. He made 14 of his appearances in relief with a 3.91 ERA, allowing only 23 hits in 25.1 innings pitched while striking out 19 batters.

Edwards played at West Liberty State University where he was a four-year starter and two time first team ALL-WVIAC at third base. In his final season in 2006 he hit .426 with 14 doubles, six HR, and 42 RBI. He left West Liberty as the school’s all-time hit leader with 184.
