Gragnani, a 5’11”, 180 pound native of Richmond, VA, was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 27th round of the 2009 MLB Draft after earning Rawlings/Louisville Silver Slugger All-America honors his senior season at Mills Godwin High School. During that season he hit .422 with six home runs and 25 RBI and was named District Player of the Year as well as an All-Metro selection. In 2008 he was named the best hitter prospect in the Cal Ripken Sr. League after hitting .324 that summer. “Gragnani is a true switch-hitting infielder who has the ability to play second, third, and even first base for Virginia this spring,” said Mallards Field Manager C.J. Thieleke. “He hails from the same high school as former Mallards Kris Rochelle (Charlotte) and Justin Bristow (East Carolina), both of whom were very good in the Northwoods League during their stops.”
