Micah Gibbs comes to the AirHogs after playing the Chicago Cubs farm system the last four years. He played 16 games at Daytona this season and in 2012 batted .200 in 62 games with Daytona.
Gibbs was LSU's starting catcher for three seasons (2008-10) and emerged as one of the nation's best players behind the plate. He signed with the Chicago Cubs in the summer of 2010 after he was selected in the third round of the MLB Draft. Gibbs was a second-team All-America and first-team All-SEC selection in 2010.
As a junior, he started 61 games for LSU, batting a team-high .388 (95-for-245) with 14 doubles, three triples, 10 homers and 60 RBI. He hit .432 (54-for-125) in SEC regular-season games with eight doubles, three triples, three homers and 23 RBI and finished No. 3 in the SEC with a .388 cumulative batting average.
He played his high school ball at Leander H.S. in Texas.
