Stantrel joins the Bluefish during his first season in the Atlantic League and 10th of professional baseball. The outfielder began the 2013 campaign with the Camden Riversharks, where he appeared in 10 games and had eight hits including a double. Smith reached Single-A with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2006 and 2007. He has played in Independent baseball since 2008.
Over the last two seasons, Smith has been with Edinburg in the North American Baseball League. The 29-year-old has hit .304 and has averaged 44 RBI during that span. Smith also set a career high in stolen bases in 2012; he swiped 59 bags while only getting caught 11 times. Over the last two seasons, Smith has averaged 50 stolen bases.
