Matt Pobereyko joins his younger brother Danny on the Oilmen roster in 2013. The elder Pobereyko returns to Indiana having pitched this past spring at Kentucky Wesleyan College.
He made 11 appearances and five starts for the Panthers, owning a 2-2 record. He also struck out 23 batters in 30 2/3 innings pitched.
Before that, he played two years at South Suburban College in Illinois. He pitched in three games in 2012 before a season-ending injury, but had 13 strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings. The year before, he posted a 1.96 ERA in eight appearances spanning 18 1/3 innings. That year, he also flashed high-strikeout stuff, fanning 18 batters.
At Bishop Noll High School, he was a two-year starter on the diamond, helping his team to a 52-17 record over his junior and senior years. A versatile athlete, he played all around the infield on the baseball team at Noll, and also was a two-year member of the swim team.
