Matera will make his professional debut with the Bears in 2010. The Toms River native played two seasons at Lynn University and helped the Knights win the 2009 Division II National Championship.  In two seasons at Lynn, he batted .257 with 69 hits and 43 RBI.  Prior to joining the Fighting Knights, Toms River native spent two seasons at Brookdale Community College.  He helped the Jersey Blue to a combined 80-22 record and was a two-time NJCAA First Team All-District.  His recorded his best season in 2007 when he batted .410 with four home runs, 16 doubles and 41 RBI.
