David ventures to the Brainerd Lakes Area from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Penn.  The junior infielder from Ithaca, N.Y. has enjoyed great success in his three seasons with the St. Joe’s Hawks both in the field and at the plate.  As a sophomore in 2008, he led the Hawks with 39 RBI and ranked second on the team in both hits (48) and homeruns (3).  He was also a force at the plate during his freshman season, ranking third on the team with a .326 batting average and was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Freshman Team.  As a senior at Lansing High School, he held a .485 batting average and was a First-Team All-State Selection.  David, a marketing major, is the son of George and Dianne Velasante and has a sister named Christine.
