Richmond, an outfielder, was Drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 12th round of the 2010 MLB June Amateur Draft from University of Louisville (Louisville, KY).
Before coming to the Freedom, Richmond spent the better part of three seasons in affiliated baseball. He played at Low A, A, and High A for the Texas Rangers.

As a freshman at Louisville, he hit .284 with 15 doubles, six home runs and 36 RBIs, scoring 46 times in 59 games for the Cardinals. Originally an infielder, Josh moved into the outfield where he started 35 games. He was named to the 2008 All-BIG EAST Tournament Team.
During Richmond's sophomore campaign he hit .307 with seven home runs and 31 RBIs. He saw time in 61 games, including 57 starts in the outfield. He was named to the 2009 All-NCAA Regional Team.
A 2007 grad of Oak Hills High School, Richmond was a multi-sport athlete for the Highlanders. He went on to play for the 2007 Connie Mack World Series champion, Midland Redskins.
