Eric Groff is a first year player with the Florence Freedom. The 25 year old third baseman began his career at Northern Lebanon High School in Pennsylvania. After graduation, Groff attended Delaware Technical and Community College where he played baseball for two years. He then returned to Pennsylvania to finish his college career at Keystone College, where he collected 132 hits, 22 doubles, 11 triples, 30 home runs, and 108 RBIs while batting .406 over the course of two seasons. While at Keystone, Groff set school records for most hits in a season (89) and most home runs in a season (18), and was also selected as a 2009 and 2010 Division III All American, the 2009 Colonial States Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and the 2010 Colonial States Conference Tournament MVP. Groff entered the 2010 MLB Draft and was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 44th round. He played in the minor leagues from 2010-2012, beginning with the Missoula Osprey in 2011. Groff played 5 games at the AAA level for the Reno Aces in 2010 before returning to Missoula. He was most recently with the A+ level Visalia Rawhide.
