Daniel Jensen is a pitcher who will be a first year player for the Florence Freedom in 2013. The 6'7" right hander graduated from Centerville High School in Ohio in 2008. In his senior year at Centerville, he was named an All-Ohio, All-League, and All-Area selection for his play. Jensen attended and played baseball at Sinclair Community College for one season, finishing with a 3.90 ERA, before transferring to the University of Cincinnati prior to the 2009 season. In his first year with the Bearcats, Jensen appeared solely in relief situations, earning a 3-4 record and a 4.60 ERA. He became a starter during his junior year, and in his second season with Cincinnati he went 4-2 with a 4.02 ERA. In his senior year, Jensen pitched 89.2 innings in 15 games, and ended the year with a 4-5 record and a 3.11 ERA. Following his graduation, the Cincinnati Reds drafted Jensen in the 20th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He spent the 2011 season with the Billings Mustangs, the Pioneer League Affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. He spent most of 2012 with the Dayton Dragons, the A level affiliate of the Reds, but also appeared in one game for the Bakersfield Blaze, the Reds' A+ level affiliate team. Jensen finished his two years in the minors with a 8-12 record with a 5.17 ERA, and signed with the Freedom in 2013.
