Catcher Alvin Colina joins the Blue Crabs after playing for division-rival the Camden Riversharks in 2012. Last season the 31 year-old appeared in 75 games with the Riversharks, recording a .244 batting average, with 23 runs on 66 hits (16 of those being extra-base hits) and 26 RBIs.
Colina began his career with the Colorado Rockies organization in 2000, reaching as high as the Major Leagues in 2006. Between the 2007-2010 seasons Colina then transitioned to Triple-A, playing for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox of the Pacific Coast League and the Louisville Bats, Gwinnett Braves and Durham Bulls of the International League. The Puerto Cabello, Venezuela natives, stint with the Rockies featured one hit in five at bats and one RBI.
The 6’3”, 210-pound catcher has spent the last two seasons splitting time between the Lancaster Barnstormers and Riversharks, and has recorded a .247 average in two season of Atlantic League play.
