Ryan Pineda, a former Oakland Athletics prospect, joins the RedHawks after spending the past three seasons at the Rookie and Single-A level. Last season, Pineda spent time between the Stockton Ports of the California League (High-A) and the Burlington (IA) Bees of the Midwest League (A).
With Stockton, Pineda batted .249 with 18 doubles, one triple, four home runs, 28 RBIs and 25 runs scored in 71 games. At Burlington, he batted .215 with three doubles, one triple, one home run, seven RBIs and five runs scored in 23 games.
In his three-year professional career, Pineda has amassed a .241batting with 48 doubles, four triples, eight home runs, 72 RBIs and 85 runs in 208 games. Mainly a second baseman, Pineda has also seen time at third base, shortstop and the corner outfield positions. He was drafted in the 28th round by Oakland in 2010 out of California State University Northridge, where he was an All-Big West Conference selection his junior year.
