Played in outfield in addition to pitching during his prep career. Competed for Holyoke (Mass.) Blue Sox of the New England Collegiate Baseball League during the summer 2012. Made nine appearances including one start pitching total of 14.1 innings. Played for So Cal Mavericks in Los Angeles during summers of 2009-11. During summer of 2011 participated in Japan-USA Goodwill Tour in Japan. Also played in 2010 USA-Japan Friendship Series.

Made five appearances as a freshman with first four coming in a relief role. Longest outing was 1.2 innings in his debut at UC Riverside on Feb 21. Other four outings lasted 1.0 inning each. Season-high of one strikeout came on three occasions. Over his first three relief stints (3.2 innings) allowed no runs on no hits. Lone start came on May 1 against UC Irvine.
Played four seasons of varsity baseball at Knight High School in Palmdale, Calif. Coached there by Chris Saucke. As a senior went 5-4 with a 3.33 ERA. Recorded 69 strikeouts over 42 innings, second-highest total in the Golden League. Hit .303 with a pair of home runs. During his junior year hit .382 with two home runs while compiling a 4.01 ERA on the mound. Named to all-Golden League second team. Selected to North-South All-Star team. As a sophomore hit .271 with four doubles and two home runs. Involved in Project Lead the Way, academic organization in area of aerospace engineering. Three-year scholar-athlete honoree.
Brandon Edwin Thomas was born Sept. 16, 1993, in Lancaster, Calif. Son of Carl and Carla Thomas. Sister, Brittany, played soccer at Fresno State. Sister, Carla, ran track at Oregon. Enjoys playing guitar, swimming and playing video games. Favorite athlete is former Major League pitcher Randy Johnson. A business management major at San Diego State.
