A 6’3” 200 lb. outfielder, Victoria native Austin Russell is a Junior at Southern Polytechnical State University in Georgia. Russell began his baseball career at Esquimalt Little League and continued throughout Victoria's minor baseball ranks until becoming part of the Victoria Mariners premier team. He played under coach Mike Chewpoy from 2007 to 2010 when he won a BCPBL championship. He was then recruited and attended Colby Community College in his freshman and sophomore years. As a freshman at Colby he was named second-team all conference. As a sophomore, he received first-team all conference and first team all region honours after posting a .402 average with 88 hits and 37 RBIs in 56 games played. The past two summers, Russell has played for the Moose Jaw Miller Express of the Western Major Baseball League.
