An NECBL All-Star selection last summer, Winger returns for his second stint in the City by the Sea in 2013. A key cog in the heart of the Gulls batting order, Winger batted .328 (45-for-147) with 27 runs scored, eight doubles, one triple, three home runs and finished tied for second on the team with 36 RBI during the regular season in Newport. In the post-season, Winger racked up a team-high three doubles and six RBI.
Winger, a solid defensive first baseman who has made just five errors in 98 career games at Michigan, missed most of his junior campaign due to injury, batting .158 (6-for-38) with a pair of runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base in 18 games (13 starts).
In 2012, Winger made an impact with his bat as a sophomore, hitting .296 (58-for-196) with 22 runs scored, nine doubles, one triple, four home runs and 30 RBI in 55 games (52 starts).
In 2011, Winger played in 25 games as a freshman starting 19 games at first base and at designated hitter. Winger batted .294 (20-for-68) with nine runs scored, three doubles and five RBI. Winger was awarded the Athletic Department’s Academic Achievement Award in 2011.
