Gerber will be one of the cornerstones of the Ocean State Waves this summer. Gerber comes to the Ocean State from Naperville, Ill, also the hometown of Waves pitcher Daniel Ludwig. He has been outstanding at Creighton. This past season, Mike was superb as he completed the season with a batting average of .328. In the process he knocked a team-high five balls out of the park also leading the Jays with six triples, compiling 31 RBIs. Gerber finished the season with a team high slugging percentage of .567. On the defensive side of the ball Gerber was flawless with a .1000 fielding percentage, with a total of 78 putouts.Gerber’s sophomore campaign was outstanding as he achieved the honor of being named to the 2012 MVC All-Defensive Team. Gerber was named the MVC Tournament Most Outstanding PlayerGerber made a huge impact right from the start at Creighton as he was named a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American in 2011.He was also named to the Missouri Valley Conference Second Team.Prior to attending Creighton, he excelled at Neuqua Valley High School where was ranked as the fourth best outfielder in Illinois by Prep Baseball and was drafted in the 40th round by the New York Yankees. He was named to the First Team All-Conference in both his junior and senior year.
