Casey was a freshman at Cal Poly in 2012-13, and went 6-2 in 11 games, with a 5.02 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 57 innings.
A graduate of Bakersfield Christian High in Bakersfield, Calif., he was 6-4 as a senior, had 80 strikeouts in 61 innings and limited opponents to a .177 average.
As a position player he hit .489 with 43 runs scored, 27 RBI, 12 doubles, three triples and three home runs. He had 14 multiple-hit games, three four-hit games, a .598 on-base percentage and a .789 slugging percentage. He was co-MVP of South Sequoia League.
He was an All-South Sequoia League pitcher and All-Area utility player as a junior. He also was named to the NCSAA All-American first-team, All-American Far West Super Region team, ESPN Cal-Hi all-state small schools team and all-state underclassmen second-team.
