Kirk Clark returns for his second season in a Sioux Falls uniform after posting a 1-4 record and 3.86 ERA in 2013. The Moline, Illinois native was simply dominant in the final month of the season, allowing just two earned runs, while striking out 20 batters, in his final 17 innings.
Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Creighton University in 2009, Clark pitched in the Houston Astros organization for the better part of four minor league seasons from 2009 to 2012. The right-hander posted a combined 4.87 ERA in 2011 and 2012 for the High-A affiliate Lancaster JetHawks while striking out 48 batters over 89 2/3 innings.
Clark has a career record of 15-15 in five seasons, with a 4.93 ERA and 193 strikeouts over 213 2/3 innings.
